The invention relates to a filter medium for the filtration of gases such as air for ventilation and/or heating and/or air conditioning of buildings or motor vehicles, comprising at least one web of fibres made up of a mixture of at least two fibre populations with a different average diameter, each fibre population having in particular a yarn number of less than or equal to 50 decitex (dtex), preferably more than or equal to 1 decitex. The invention further relates to a method for production of said filter medium.
