<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a development cartridge deformation preventing device that prevents the softened end face of a development cartridge from being deformed due to the force of the rotary shaft of an idle gear pressing the end face of the development cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: The helical gear teeth of the first gear 143 of a development roller drive gear 137 and the helical gear teeth of an intermediate gear 131 are formed in the direction in which a development roller 55 is pressed to the first gear 143. The deformation preventing device 151 is disposed relative to the support shaft 133 of the intermediate gear 131 so that the deformation preventing device 151 is restricted in the axial direction of the support shaft 133.
