Provided are a functional safety pin to prevent the explosion and firing of a battery by melting a thermal cut off material composition at a certain temperature, and a sealed battery using the functional safety pin. The functional safety pin comprises a main body(110) of certain length which has a penetration line; and a stopping member(113) which stops the upper end and the lower end of the main body. Preferably the stopping member is a thermal cut off material which is molten or broken at a temperature of 80-200 deg.C. Preferably, the thermal cut off material comprises any one selected from 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde, 1,3-diphenylbenzene, 1,4-dibromobenzene, triphenylmethane, 4,4'-methyl bis(benzeneamine), diphenylethanedione, pentanedionic acid, n-propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate, xanthene, 3,5-dimethylpyrazole, 1,3-benzenediol, N-phenyl-3-naphthylamine, N-phenylacetamide, 9H-fluorene, m-phenylene dibenzoate, and dihydro-2,5-furanedione. |
