An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent a gate pad from being electrochemically corroded, thereby improving the reliability of the gate pad, by forming a gate ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) electrode to be connected to a gate pad upper electrode when the gate pad is formed. A gate pad is formed on a transparent substrate(101). The gate pad includes a gate ITO electrode(115), first and second gate pad lower electrodes(114a,114b) formed on the gate ITO electrode, a gate insulating layer(111) formed on the first and second gate pad lower electrodes, a passivation layer(113) formed on the gate insulating layer, a gate pad upper electrode(118) formed on the passivation layer using the same material as the gate ITO electrode, and contact holes(H1,H2) for electrically connecting the gate ITO electrode and the gate pad upper electrode. A gate line is integrally formed with the first and second gate pad lower electrodes in a single body. The gate line has a double-layered structure.
