A mobile terminal and a battery display method are provided to stably apply a different reference value in coupling and separating an adapter by maintaining a battery display state for a few seconds. An adapter detecting unit(100) detects whether a charging adapter is coupled. A charging unit(200) converts power supplied from the adapter into constant voltage. A battery(300) stores power supplied from the charging unit. A voltage detecting unit(500) detects a terminal voltage of the battery. A controller(400) generates visual information based on a reference value according to the voltage detected by the voltage detecting unit and applies a reference value according to whether the adapter is coupled. A display unit(600) displays the generated visual information.
