A brushless DC motor is provided to obtain a waveform of reverse electromotive force similar to a square wave by arranging a pair of magnetic flux barrier holes between magnets. A brushless DC motor includes a stator(10) and a rotor(20). The rotor includes a rotor core(21) formed in a cylindrical shape, a plurality of installation holes(22) prepared in the rotor core, a plurality of magnets(23) fixed by being inserted into each installation hole, and a pair of magnetic flux barrier holes(25) prepared between two adjacent magnets. The magnetic flux barrier holes have magnetic flux going around the stator. One side of the pair of magnetic flux barrier holes is arranged to face with each other and the other sides are formed in a zigzag shape, and thus a number of stepped portions are prepared.
