METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A SURFACE LIGHT SOURCE DEVICE AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

A method for manufacturing a surface light source device and an apparatus for performing the same are provided to distribute uniformly mercury within a light source body by suppressing a moving effect of liquefied mercury to a low-temperature region. A molding process is performed to mold a light source body having a plurality of discharge spaces for receiving discharge gas(S401). A removal process is performed to remove impurities from the discharge spaces(S403). A diffusion process is performed to diffuse mercury gas into the discharge spaces(S407). A rapid cooling process is performed to cool rapidly the light source body from a temperature level corresponding to a gas state of the mercury within the discharge spaces to a room temperature level(S411).
