A method for backing up data stored in a mobile terminal and a recording medium storing a program thereof are provided to enable a user to periodically back up the data stored in the mobile terminal without any user action. A host detects connection of the mobile terminal(S400). The host determines whether an ID of the mobile terminal is the registered ID or not(S402). If the ID of the mobile terminal is the registered ID, it is determined whether backup is required for the mobile terminal by referring to a backup data list(S404). If the backup is required, the data stored in the mobile terminal is backed up to the host(S408). The backup data list is at least one of an address book, schedules, music files, and image files.
