An HDD(Hard Disk Drive) for preventing head on pack and a method therefor are provided to enable a combination IC(Integrated Circuit) to previously sense a wrong operation of an HDC(Hard Disk Controller) power supplier to park a magnetic head to a predetermined parking zone, thereby preventing a head on pack phenomenon. An HDC power supplier(30) receives a power voltage, and boosts up or down the power voltage to output the boosted power voltage. A VCM(Voice Coil Motor) driver(10) supplies a driving current to a VCM(173). An HDC(20) outputs a control signal for parking a magnetic head(120) to a predetermined parking zone. A combination IC(90) receives the control signal of the HDC(20), and controls the VCM driver(10) so that a current for parking the head(120) to the parking zone is applied to a voice coil of the VCM(173). The combination IC(90) receives an output voltage of the HDC power supplier(30), and performs a power on reset function based on a level of the output voltage.
