An electronic control unit inputs the angle of sideslip F of the body at step S11 and then inputs a correction amount N inputted by an operator at step S12. In order to reduce a transverse force occurring in the body due to the angle of sideslip F of the body, the electronic control unit then calculates at step S15 a target steering angle Ha by subtracting a correction term (N F) from the rotational amount (K1 R) of a steering output shaft (13) having a predetermined relationship with the rotational amount of a steering input shaft (12). At steps S16 and S17, the electronic control unit controls driving of the motor of a variable gear ratio actuator until the rotational amount of the steering output shaft reaches the target steering angle Ha.
