The unit has two printing groups provided with blanket cylinders and plate cylinders, and a cylinder support and movement mechanism moving the unit into a throw-on configuration and a throw-off configuration. The blanket cylinders are respectively applied against the plate cylinders in the throw-on configuration, and spaced relative to each other in the throw-off configuration. The mechanism includes a connecting rod (40A) having a reduced resistance region (46A) breakable under a predetermined force.
