A method for bonding substrates and a method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device by using the same are provided to prevent bending of the substrates even if the substrates are different from each other in a thermal expansion coefficient or thickness, thereby applying to a flexible display. A sealant(300) is applied on a first substrate(100) or a second substrate(200). The first substrate and the second substrate are compressed. Each side of the applied sealant is hardened in order by irradiating light to each side. When the light is irradiated to the substrates, other sides of the sealant except one side are hidden by a cover and the light is irradiated to fronts of the first substrate and the second substrate.
