A substrate for a liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating a liquid crystal display device by using the same are provided to realize a thick substrate by bonding a dummy substrate with a substrate for an actual process, thereby preventing deflection of the substrate. An actual substrate(201a) for forming a plurality of patterns required for displaying an image is prepared. At least one dummy substrate(201b) is bonded with the actual substrate. A bonding layer(222) is formed between the actual substrate and the dummy substrate. The plurality of patterns for displaying an image are formed at the actual substrate. The actual substrate includes a plurality of gate lines and data lines crossing each other, a plurality of thin film transistors switching data signals from the data lines in response to scan pulses from the gate lines, and a plurality of pixel electrodes receiving the data signals from the thin film transistors.
