A light-emitting apparatus and a controlling method thereof are provided to improve efficiency of a system by preventing distortion of an output of a light-emitting unit, optimizing a driving voltage, and preventing transfer of stress to peripheral devices. A light-emitting apparatus includes a light-emitting unit(110), a power supplying unit(120), and a control unit(150). The light-emitting unit(110) emits the light. The power supplying unit(120) supplies a driving voltage to the light-emitting unit(110). The control unit(150) compares a first current level corresponding to image information displayed on the light-emitting unit(110) with a second current level applied to the light-emitting unit(110), and controls the voltage level applied to the light-emitting unit(110) based on the comparing result. |
