A liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to improve the yield by preventing disconnection of an upper layer crossing a lower layer when the upper layer is patterned. An active pattern(124) is formed on a substrate, and has a saw tooth shape at its side surfaces. A first insulating layer is formed on the substrate. A gate electrode(121) is formed on the active pattern, while crossing the side of the active pattern. A second insulating layer is formed on the substrate. Source and drain electrodes electrically connect with a predetermined area of the active pattern are formed. Pixel electrodes electrically connect with the drain electrodes.
