A microwave oven with voice recognition and a method for controlling the same are provided to check accuracy of voice recognition based on sound analogy recognition data, and to minimize possibility of erroneous operation. A microwave oven with voice recognition includes a voice input unit(110), a voice recognition data storing unit(120), a voice recognizing unit(130), and a control unit(140). The voice input unit(110) converts voice of a user to an electric signal. The voice recognition data storing unit(120) stores operation command recognition data(123) for recognizing an operation command corresponding to each function of the microwave oven, and sound analogy recognition data(126) for recognizing pronunciation which is analogical with the operation command. The voice recognizing unit(130) compares the operation command recognition data(123) and the sound analogy recognition data(126) with an output of the sound inputting unit(110), and determines whether the voice of the user is the operation command. The control unit(140) controls the microwave oven based on the determination result of the voice recognizing unit(130).
