A toothbrush handle is composed of two portions arranged to bend resiliently about a pivot when a certain pressure is applied. Two L-shaped portions 2, 7 (Fig. 1) are hinged at 4 and connected by a resilient member 5 mounted selectively in slots 9. The two portions 50, 51 of Fig. 7 are interconnected by a hinge 54 and compression spring 55. The hinge 54 may be on the other face of the handle (Fig. 5, not shown) and the spring 55 replaced by a resilient member in tension, the tension being adjustable by a screw fixing. The handle in another embodiment (Fig. 6, not shown) comprises two hollow portions hinged together with a resilient member through the hollow centre, the tension being adjustable by a screw fixing at the end of the handle. In yet a further embodiment the handle comprises two rigid sections (Fig. 3) having a portion at each inner end cut away to reduce the thickness to half. The cut-away portions are overlapped and hinged at one or other end and surrounded by a resilient band. |
