A device for supporting a tactile sense in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to transfer a tactile sense to a user according to a key operation of the user by using repelling power of a permanent magnet and an electromagnet installed under keys of the portable terminal. A device for supporting a tactile sense in a portable terminal comprises a tactile sense generator(260), a position inputting unit(220), a controller and a driver(240). The tactile sense generator(260) offers position variation caused by a key operation, receives control information, and generates a vibration or a repelling force toward a direction contrary to a specific direction. The position inputting unit(220) offers information, including the position variation, to the controller. The controller receives the information including the position variation, and provides a control signal to the driver by setting a previously executed program. The driver(240) receives the control signal and drives the tactile sense generator(260). |
