An array substrate for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to simplify a manufacturing process by using two masks, improve the manufacturing yield by reducing masks, prevent the inferiority by forming a channel passivation layer of thin film transistors. Gate lines, gate electrodes(222), gate pads(277), and pixel electrodes are formed on a substrate(210). A gate insulating layer(230) is formed on the substrate for exposing the gate lines and the pixel electrodes. Source electrodes(262) are connected with data lines crossing the gate lines. Drain electrodes(263) are opposite to the source electrodes, with a channel is interposed between the source electrodes and the drain electrodes. Data pads(278) are formed at ends of the data lines. Capacitor electrodes(265) are overlapped with the pixel electrodes and parts of the gate lines. A semiconductor layer(241) forms the channel between the source electrodes and the drain electrodes. First to fourth contact holes(251,252,253,254) are formed at the gate pads, the data pads, the capacitor electrodes, and the drain electrodes. First to fourth contact electrodes are formed at the first to fourth contact holes. |
