OPTICAL CONNECTION BLOCK FOR PCB AND METHOD FOR FABRICATION THEREOF

An optical interconnection block for a PCB(Printed Circuit Board) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to effectively interconnect a VCSEL(Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser), a waveguide, and a PD(Photo Diode), and to properly apply to multi-channel and multi-layer optical PCBs. An optical interconnection block(300) for a PCB(100) is composed of a plane substrate layer; a lower clad layer placed on the plane substrate layer and made of materials with optically transparent property for a predetermined wavelength; a core layer placed on the lower clad layer and provided with an optical waveguide(200) formed with a curved section and made of optical polymers with the refractive index higher than that of the lower clad layer; and an upper clad layer placed on the lower clad layer to cover the optical waveguide of the core layer and made of materials with the refractive index lower than that of the optical polymer.
