An apparatus and a method for changing velocity of a hybrid induction motor are provided to improve operation efficiency of the hybrid induction motor, by changing the velocity of the hybrid induction motor by changing the amplitude of an operation capacitance. A hybrid induction motor is started by the start capacitance of a start capacitor(Cs), and is operated by operation capacitance of an operation capacitor(Cr) when the hybrid induction motor reaches a synchronous velocity. In the hybrid induction motor, a number of velocity-changing capacitors(C1,C2) are connected by the operation capacitor in parallel and changes the velocity of the hybrid induction motor by increasing the operation capacitance, by a control signal. A control unit(100) analyzes a user command, and outputs the control signal to change the velocity of the hybrid induction motor on the ground of the analysis result.
