An apparatus for inspecting a flat panel display device and a method for inspecting the flat panel display device are provided to minimize a foot print by forming an automatic inspection unit and a naked eye inspection unit in one apparatus, decrease the manufacturing cost by preventing additional installation of equipment, and reduce tact time by successively performing automatic inspection and naked eye inspection to a glass substrate. A base frame(100) forms a body. An automatic inspection unit(300) photographs a glass substrate(1) returned by a returning unit(200) for inspecting defection of the glass substrate with the photographed data. A naked eye inspection unit is installed at one side of the base frame and slants a front of the glass substrate to face a front part so that the naked eye inspection unit inspects the glass substrate with the naked eye.
