Provided is an aqueous colloidal gas black suspension, which shows a high optical density, low zeta potential, high surface tension, low surface viscosity and excellent shelf stability and water resistance on a substrate such as paper upon ink jet printing. The aqueous colloidal gas black suspension comprises: at least one gas black; an azo compound represented by the following formula 1; and water. In formula 1, R^1-R^18 are the same or different, and each is selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, a hydrophilic or hydrophobic group, an aliphatic, aromatic or heteroaromatic electron accepting or donating substituent or moiety, and a non-cyclic, cyclic or multi-cyclic system having an electron accepting or donating, hydrophilic or hydrophobic group. The aqueous colloidal gas black suspension comprises less than 30 wt% of gas black and less than 5 wt% of the azo compound. |
