A folder image conversion system of a mobile communication terminal and a method thereof are provided to put image effects to folders to convert the folders according to file types as browsing a file system of the terminal, or to give color effects to folder names, thus a terminal user can more conveniently access a desired file to receive contents. A DB(10) consists of different images according to file information. A file system(20) consists of plural folders which store plural files. A file comparator(30) compares the file information within each file with the DB, and determines whether the compared results are the same. A folder image converter(40) changes colors of folder names or images of folders where the files are contained, according to the image effects defined in the DB by the compared results of the comparator(30).
