An LCD device and a method for driving the same are provided to drive an LCD device, in which the number of gate lines and the number of gate channels are not equal, by changing a timing control signal. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes an LCD panel(210), a gate driver(230), and a timing controller(260). The LCD panel includes plural gate lines(212). The gate driver includes gate channels, the number of which is different from the number of the gate lines. The timing controller applies a gate shift clock signal, which includes at least one dummy shift clock(DSC), to the gate driver. The number of the dummy shift clocks is equal to the difference between the number of the gate lines and the number of the gate channels.
