A mobile terminal having an auxiliary charging circuit and a method for controlling the same are provided to prevent the generation of a reset state or the lengthening of charging time, due to the usage of the battery in the middle of battery charging, through the charging current supplied through the third current path by forming the first current path and the third current path and charging the battery in case the voltage of the battery is smaller than a preset reference value. A mobile terminal having an auxiliary charging circuit comprises an ABB(Analog Base Band)(30), a charging part(40), and an auxiliary power circuit part(50). The ABB(30) checks the voltage of a battery(20), creates the first control signal if the voltage of the battery(20) is smaller than a preset reference value, forms the first current path between a power supply part(10) and the battery(20), and outputs current to charge the battery(20). In case the voltage of the battery(20) is larger than the reference value, the ABB(30) creates the second control signal. The charging part(40), driven according to the second control signal, forms the second current path to charge the battery(20). The auxiliary power circuit part(50), if the first control signal is generated, forms the third current path together with the first current path and supplies current to the battery(20).
