A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) including the same are provided to prevent brightness ununiformity caused by brightness differences between lamps, by reducing a difference of driving voltages between central lamps and peripheral lamps. A plurality of lamps(210,220) are disposed in parallel to each other. A first inverter supplies a driving voltage for one group of lamps among the plurality of lamps. A second inverter supplies a driving voltage for the other group of lamps among the plurality of lamps. The one group of lamps driven by the first inverter is 60% to 90% of lamps placed at a central part among the plurality of lamps. The lamps are external electrode fluorescent lamps. The second inverter can control the magnitude of the driving voltage applied to the other group of lamps. |
