An apparatus for generating a common voltage and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device having the same are provided to enhance image quality by maintaining a constant voltage difference between common and gamma voltages irrespective of a temperature variation. An apparatus for generating a common voltage includes a common voltage supplying unit(34), a gamma voltage supplying unit(37), and at least one capacitor(35). The common voltage supplying unit supplies a common voltage. The gamma voltage supplying unit supplies a gamma voltage. One end of the capacitors is connected to an output terminal of the common voltage supplying unit, and the other end is connected to an output terminal of the gamma voltage supplying unit. The common voltage generating apparatus further includes an abnormal current reducing unit for suppressing a current variation in the common voltage supplying unit when the generated common voltage is varied.
