A tooth-whitening composition is provided to minimize irritation of teethridge and oral cavity mucosa and serve tooth-whitening effects for a long period of time by increasing stability of peroxide and controlling release of peroxide, and improve use feeling and tooth adhesive property. The tooth-whitening composition comprises a peroxide and chitosan as a polymer for controlling release speed and increasing viscosity, and further comprises a viscosity-increasing polymer selected from polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVC), polyvinylalcohol(PVA), pullulan, hydroxymethyl cellulose(HMC), hydroxyethyl cellulose(HEC), hydroxypropyl cellulose(HPC), hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose(HPMC), methyl cellulose(MC), ethyl cellulose(EC), Eudragit L30D55, Eudragit LS30D, hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose phthalate(HPMCP), hydroxypropylmethyl cellulose acetate succinate(HPMCAS), corn protein extract(zein), soybean protein, wheat protein, agar, carrageenan, pectin, gum and starch, wherein the peroxide is hydrogen peroxide, urea peroxide, calcium peroxide, sodium percarbonate or sodium perborate; and the composition further comprises a tooth-whitening component stabilizer, a humectants, a chelating agent, a surfactant, a sweetener or a flavoring agent.
