A hybrid gate driver for a liquid crystal panel is provided to the area occupied by the hybrid gate driver by forming the channel width of a pull-down transistor to be less than that of a pull-up transistor. In a hybrid gate driver, there is provided a plurality of shift stages which is dependently connected to a start pulse and corresponds to gate lines on a liquid crystal panel. Each of the shift stages includes a pull-down transistor, a pull-up transistor, a pull-up driving unit and a pull-down driving unit. The pull-down transistor(M2) pulls down the voltage on the corresponding gate line. The pull-up transistor(M1) pulls up the voltages on the corresponding gate line and has greater channel width than the pull-down transistor. The pull-up driving unit(22) drives the pull-up and pull-down transistors reversely so that the voltage on the corresponding gate line is pulled up in response to the scan signal from the previous shift stage. The pull-down driving unit(24) drives the pull-up and pull-down transistors reversely so that the voltage on the corresponding gate line is pulled down in response to the scan signal from the next shift stage.
