A device for retransmitting multimedia data and a method and system therefor are provided to retransmit multimedia data according to a user's pattern if the transmitted multimedia data is not properly delivered to a receiving side, thereby increasing a success rate of a multimedia data transmission service. A multimedia data transmission device receives multimedia data, and transmits a reception notify message in response to the received multimedia data. A reception request agent receives the reception notify message to relay the message to a receiving terminal. If a multimedia data reception possible message is received from the receiving terminal, the multimedia data transmission device retransmits the reception notify message.
