A railway rail measurement system is provided to measure the height and width of railway rails by moving along railway rails, and to measure alignment defect and gauge irregularity of railway rails, flatness of rails and irregularity in cross level with due regard to expansion and contraction of rails by a variation of temperature. The railway rail measurement system contains a sensor section(10) including a width measurement sensor(11) measuring the width of rails, a height measurement sensor(12) measuring the height of rails, an angle measurement sensor(13) measuring the rotation angle of the railway rail measurement system, a temperature sensor(14) measuring the temperature of the circumference and a level(15) measuring the horizontality of rails, an A/D converter(20) converting analog signals of the sensor section into digital signals and outputting the signals, a memory(40) storing data, a calculation section(30) calculating output signals of the sensor section, and a display(50) outputting calculated results of the calculation section.
