<p>1,214,607. Phosphating Iron. PYRENE CO. Ltd. Aug.11, 1969 [Aug. 31, 1968], No. 40036/69. Heading C7U. Iron or steel surfaces are phosphated by treatment with an aqueous acidic zinc phosphate solution containing 3-15 g/l of C10 3 and at least 0À8 g/l of F<SP>-</SP> at 15-45‹C. The weight ratio C1O 3 <SP>-</SP>: F<SP>-</SP> is preferably 1:0À08-2, and the acid ratio 0À15-0À6, a preferred solution containing Zn 3-15 g/l, phosphate (as P 2 O 5 ) 4-25 g/l, C1O 3 <SP>-</SP> 3-15 g/l, and F<SP>-</SP> 0À8-6 g/l. The solution is applied by immersion or flooding, and replenishment of the depleted solution is performed using a solution of ClO 3 <SP>-</SP>: F<SP>-</SP> ratio 1:0À08-1 and acid ratio 0À3 to 0À6, preferably having ratios phosphate (as P 2 O 5 ): Zn: ClO 3 <SP>-</SP>: F<SP>-</SP> of 1:0À2 to 0À44:0À3 to 1À2: 0À1 to 0À3. Prior to phosphating, the surface may be treated with Ti orthophosphate activator.</p> |
