A display device is provided to improve a contrast ratio by accumulating polarizing plates different in an absorption coefficient of absorption shafts and thus reducing a light leakage. A first transmissive substrate(101) and a second transmissive substrate(102) are prepared in an opposite position. A display device is interposed between the first transmissive substrate and the second transmissive substrate. A plurality of polarizing plates(103,104,105,106) are accumulated at the outside of the first transmissive substrate or the second transmissive substrate. The accumulated polarizing plates are different in an absorption coefficient to each absorption shaft. The absorption shafts are arranged to be in a parallel nichol state.
