A method and an apparatus for inspecting a shape of a flexible printed circuit board are provided to enhance a shape inspection speed by reducing the amount of data to be processed. An apparatus for inspecting a shape of a flexible printed circuit board includes a feeder(110), an inspecting unit(120), an error display unit(140), a substrate receiver(150), and a controller. The inspecting unit includes first to third inspecting members. The first inspecting member(121) takes an image of a circuit pattern at a solder resist region of the FPCB(Flexible Printed Circuit Board) and inspects the acquired image. The second inspecting member(122) takes an image of a solder resist border and outside the solder resist of the FPCB and inspects the acquired image. The third inspecting member(123) takes an image of a solder resist surface and an outer lead region of the FPCB and inspects the acquired image.
