A lens shading compensating apparatus and method, and an image processor are provided to perform lens shading compensation according to characteristic of a lens shading curve for respective colors. A lens shading compensating apparatus includes a pixel value analyzer(610), an automatic exposure value setting unit(620), a central pixel detector(630), a table generator(650), a pixel position calculator(660), a mask image generator(670), and a compensator(680). The pixel value analyzer generates luminance information of each color of primitive image data with pixels each having red, green and blue components. The automatic exposure value setting unit measures average brightness of a region having a predetermined size on the basis of a first central pixel of a pixel array through the luminance information and sets the average brightness as an automatic exposure value. The central pixel detector detects a second central pixel from a lens shading image corresponding to the luminance information. The table generator classifies blocks according to distances between the blocks and the second central pixel, generates a compensation value corresponding to the automatic exposure value for each block and stores the compensation value. The pixel position calculator calculates a distance between a to-be-compensated pixel and the second central pixel. The mask image generator generates a compensation value corresponding to the to-be-compensated pixel using the compensation value for each block and generates a shading mask image for each color. The compensator combines the primitive image data with the shading mask image to generate compensation pixel information.
