摘要 An optical module and an optical interconnection method using the same are provided to reduce the cost by directly connecting an optical axis of an optical element to an optical waveguide without an optical interconnection block, and to protect the optical element from external shock by fixing the optical element on a first substrate and encapsulating the optical element with an envelop material. An optical module is composed of a first substrate(110); a second substrate(120) disposed on the upper side of the first substrate and provided with an optical waveguide(125) installed inside and a placing hole; an optical element(130) inserted into the placing hole to make an optical axis face the optical waveguide and installed at the first substrate; and a sub mount(140) inserted into the placing hole and fixed to the first substrate, wherein the optical element is installed at the sub mount.
