<p>Nail hardening compsn giving good absorption and finish comprises a pref. 5-10 wt.% soln of the iodide of a terpene (pref. limonene, beta-pinene, sylvestrine, beta-terpinene or beta-phellandrene) in na essential oil (pref. extract of conifer, hesperidin or labiate). The iodide, of formula C10H16I2, is made by controlled addition of I2, with cooling if necessary to a soln. of the terpene in the oil, to give the necessary degree of combined I.</p> |
