A transfer position control apparatus, an image forming apparatus with the same, and a transfer position control method thereof are provided to extend durability of a transfer belt by making the transfer belt evenly used. An encoding part(210) includes a plurality of the first encoding elements formed at a predetermined interval on a transfer belt(136) in a longitudinal direction. A sensing part is disposed on a movement path along which the first encoding elements are moved when the transfer belt is rotated. The sensing part includes the first detection sensor for detecting the first encoding elements. A control part decides a transfer start position where a developing agent image is transferred from a photoconductive medium to the transfer belt on the basis of a detection signal which is generated when the first detection sensor first detects the first encoding elements after a print instruction is generated. The control part makes the developing agent image formed on the photoconductive medium in accordance with the decided transfer start position.
