An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the LCD are provided to reduce the number of masks used to manufacture the LCD and prevent poor electrical contact between a data pad and a data line. An LCD includes a gate line(102) formed on a substrate(145), a data line intersecting the gate line, having a gate insulating layer(136) formed between the gate line and the data line, to define a pixel region, a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) having a gate electrode(108) connected to the gate line, a source electrode(110) connected to the data line, a drain electrode(112) opposite to the source line, and a semiconductor layer(148) forming a channel between the source and drain electrodes, and a passivation layer(152) formed on the substrate to cover the TFT. The LCD further includes a pixel electrode(114) directly connected to the drain electrode and formed on the pixel region, a gate pad connected to the gate line, a data pad formed at the same level as the gate pad and connected to the data line, a data link lower electrode(142) connected to the data pad, a data link upper electrode(146) connected to the data line and superposed on one end of the data link lower electrode, and a link electrode(144) for connecting the sides of the data link lower electrode and the data link upper electrode, which are exposed in a contact hole(143) formed in the passivation layer and the gate insulating layer.
