An apparatus and a method for adjusting a display level of a portable terminal according to a residual charge amount of a battery are provided to establish superiority over other products by allowing a user to view digital multimedia broadcasting(DMB) for a long time as possible by using the battery having a limited capacity. An apparatus for adjusting a display level includes an IC module, a battery driver(112), and a display driver(108). The IC module processes a signal received through an antenna. The battery driver checks a residual charge amount of a battery, thereby providing the check result to the IC module. The display driver receives information about the residual charge amount of the battery from the IC module and adjusts the size of a display corresponding to the information. A memory(109) stores a charge level of a battery and the size of the display by matching the information about the residual charge amount of the battery and at least one size of the display.
