<p>A propeller shaft of a vehicle is provided to prevent occupants from getting damaged by allowing an universal joint to be separated when an object impacts on the propeller shaft. A propeller shaft is installed in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle body to transfer rotational force of an engine to a driving wheel. An universal joint(30b) is provided at two ends of the propeller shaft. The universal joint(30b) has a cross-shaft coupled with a rear end of the propeller shaft. A chamfer surface(37) is formed at a front edge portion of a cap that protects the cross-shaft. A spring(38) is installed in an inner cavity of the universal joint(30b). When a front crash of a vehicle occurs, the cap(36b) slidably moves backward along the chamfer surface(37) so that the cross-shaft is released from the propeller shaft, allowing the universal joint(30b) to be separated from the propeller shaft.</p> |
