A method for duplicating data in a portable terminal is provided to duplicate and store characters/numbers, which are frequently used by a user, and additionally inserted and used in an input mode. A predetermined position is extracted if the position is pointed on one of the first and second displays in a portable terminal. A cursor is placed and marked in a line area corresponding to the pointed position. Characters/numbers of the line area are displayed on the first or second display if the characters/numbers of the line area, on which the cursor is placed, are copied. The pointed position is detected by a pressure sensor and a vibration sensor embedded in the portable terminal. The copied characters/numbers are displayed on the line area corresponding to the pointed position.
