Process of purifying crude ethylenediamine

Ethylenediamine is obtained from the crude product of the reaction between ethylenedichloride and ammonia by neutralising the reaction product with caustic soda, continuously evaporating the neutralisation product so as to remove water and the amines, and separating ethylenediamine as an azeotrope with water from higher amines by fractionation.
