The method involves extracting foul water from a street mud collector in a suction carriage. The foul water in the suction carriage is separated into mud and clean water. The clean water is reconducted into the mud collector, and the mud is disposed. The separation of the foul water into the clean water and the mud takes place in multi-levels e.g. in three steps. A sedimentation unit e.g. feller unit or flocculation unit, is added to the foul water in the carriage. An independent claim is also included for a suction carriage for implementing a method for removing mud from a mud collector.
