Thermoplastic film sealing under vacuum

A device for sealing thermoplastic film on a chicken packaging line, includes a sealing support assembly 206 to receive the film 120, a sealing bar assembly including an electrically heated sealing bar 350 and a heat sink plate 360 positioned proximate the sealing bar to receive heat therefrom, and a bellows assembly 308, 310 to lower the sealing bar assembly to engage and seal the film and raise the assembly to disengage the assembly from the film. A vacuum chamber cover 302 with a lower rim 304 can be lowered so that the rim engages the upper surface of the platen 202 to form a vacuum chamber whereby a vacuum can be drawn within the chamber, or can be raised to an open position separated from the platen. The sealing assembly operates to seal the film under vacuum in the vacuum chamber.
