A short message storage management method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to be capable of continuously checking a storage state of a receiving box while a predetermined storage information message for the checked results is sent to an SMSC(Short Message Service Center), so that the SMSC can analyze the message to send a predetermined warning message to a terminal, thus a user can effectively store/manage short messages stored in a receiving box of the terminal. A storage state of a receiving box for storing received short messages is continuously checked(S301). A storage information message which includes storage state information on the receiving box is transmitted to an SMSC(S302,S303). The SMSC analyzes the storage information message, and transmits a warning message for the storage state of the receiving box to a terminal(S304). The terminal displays the warning message on a display window(S305).
