An SMS(Short Message Service) interworking voice mailbox service method is provided to record a sender's voice in a voice mailbox if a connection with a receiving mobile phone fails, while the recorded contents are converted into text data and transmitted to an SMS server, so that a receiver can check the recorded contents of the sender's voice as a text message later on. A VMS(Voice Mail System) server forms a call connection with a sender's telephone contact unit in case of call connection failure(S10). The VMS server records the sender's voice sent through the contact unit, and stores the recorded voice in a voice recording DB(S12). The VMS server recognizes the sender's voice signal stored in the DB, and extracts text data having contents corresponding to the recorded sender's voice(S14-S20,S22-S28). The VMS server transmits the extracted text data to an SMS server, so that the corresponding text data is delivered to a designated receiver as a text message(S30).
