According to one embodiment a paper money processor is provided with a case body (1a), a paper money insertion port 3A into which paper money can be inserted, a casing (1a) having a bill insertion slot (3A) provided on a front face of the casing to enable a bill (B) to be inserted therein, a bill feeding means (7) for feeding the bill (B) inserted from the bill insertion slot (3A) along the bill insertion direction, a bill identification sensor (31) for identifying effectiveness of the bills inserted into the bill insertion port, guide plate (35) for curvedly guiding the tip of the bills (B) in a carrying state when the bills are put in the carrying state in the inserting direction and the bill identification sensor (31) detects the effectiveness of the bills, a bill accommodation part which is arranged in parallel with the bill-conveying mechanism (7) and piles up the bills in a direction orthogonally crossing the bill insertion direction to accommodate them; a control means for controlling the bill carrying mechanism (7) by making a switchback process so as to carry the bills by a specific distance to the paper processing port side when the inserted bills are effective, and a sorting mechanism (50) for sorting with the bill inserted in the next place by laminating and storing the switched-back bills (B) in the bill storage part (10). |
