A photoelectric conversion device is provided to facilitate the transfer of one of holes or electrons by forming a buffer layer doped with an organic semiconductor material. First and second electrodes(12,18) are disposed to confront each other. An optical active layer is positioned between the first and the second electrodes. A buffer layer is positioned between the optical active layer and the second electrode. The buffer layer includes a compound containing aromatic organic positive ions. The compound contains 50~100 weight percent with respect to the total weight of the buffer layer. The buffer layer can include an organic semiconductor material. The compound can be doped with the organic semiconductor material.
